about pld

After 10 years of planning weddings for couples Anita decided to lay down her planner hat to pursue her passion for interior design. She values community over competition so one of her first introductions to the interior design industry was through service in the community where she was an active volunteer; serving on the board of International Furniture Design Association (IFDA). IFDA not only provided her the opportunity to serve, but it also gave her the opportunity to meet and network with other designers while she was changing careers. In 2015 while working in a corporate position, she was tasked to take on her first commercial project alongside a team of architects, project managers and interior designers. While trying to figure out where she fit in the industry, she did take a few design classes at a local college, but it really was this commercial project that got her hooked enough to seriously pursue interior design!

Throughout this project, the team navigated many challenges over a 4-year time span. So many so that it inspired her to start a design blog entitled “Pretty Loves Details” One of the biggest lessons walking away from that project was that you cannot ignore the details during any design phase if you want a pretty space. This is where the title of her blog “Pretty Loves Details” was birthed. Blogging provided her an outlet to passionately write about design tips for homeowners and to share any home projects she was tackling. What started out as a design blog, PLD Design Studio and team was officially formed to meet the needs of both her residential and commercial clients.

Interior designer Anita Williams is known for her friendly demeanor and creative approach to solving problems. Originally, from a suburb outside of Baltimore Maryland, Anita earned her Bachelor of the Arts, in Fashion Merchandising, from Virginia Commonwealth University. It was here that she explored textiles for high-end products and fined tuned her fashion-forward point of view on style for the home. She believes in designing spaces with intention. A space should be more than just pretty. With intention she curates luxury spaces for her clients.  Her favorite part of the design process is discovering what inspires and excites her clients.

When she’s not knee deep in design projects, you can find her spending time around RVA with her husband, three kids and miniature schnauzer.
